비웃는 자를 책망하는 자는 자기가 수치를 당하고 사악한 자를 꾸짖는 자는 자기가 흠을 잡히느니라. |

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. |
비웃는 자를 책망하지 말라. 그가 너를 미워할까 염려하노라. 지혜로운 자를 꾸짖으라. 그가 너를 사랑하리라. |

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. |
지혜로운 자에게 훈계를 주라. 그러면 그가 더욱 지혜롭게 되리라. 의로운 자를 가르치라. 그러면 그의 학식이 늘어나리라. |

For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased. |
나로 말미암아 네 날들이 많게 되며 네 삶의 햇수가 늘어나리라. |

If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it. |
네가 만일 지혜로우면 너 자신을 위해 지혜로울 것이로되 네가 만일 조롱하면 너 홀로 그것을 담당하리라. |

A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing. |
