A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke. |
지혜로운 아들은 자기 아버지의 훈계를 들으나 비웃는 자는 책망을 귀담아 듣지 아니하느니라. |

A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence. |
사람은 자기 입의 열매로 말미암아 선을 먹으려니와 범법자들의 혼은 폭력을 먹으리라. |

|
He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction. |
자기 입을 지키는 자는 자기 생명을 보호하나 자기 입술을 크게 벌리는 자에게는 멸망이 있으리로다. |

|
The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat. |
게으른 자의 혼은 원하여도 아무것도 소유하지 못하나 부지런한 자의 혼은 기름지게 되리로다. |

|
A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame. |
의로운 자는 거짓말을 미워하나 사악한 자는 역겨우며 수치에 이르느니라. |

|
Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner. |
의는 길이 곧바른 자를 보호하나 사악함은 죄인을 뒤엎느니라. |

|
There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches. |
스스로 부한 체하여도 아무것도 없는 자가 있고 스스로 가난한 체하여도 재물이 많은 자가 있느니라. |

|
The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke. |
사람의 생명의 대속물은 그의 재물이지만 가난한 자는 책망을 귀담아 듣지 아니하느니라. |

The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. |
의로운 자의 빛은 기뻐하나 사악한 자의 등불은 꺼지리라. |

Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom. |
오직 교만에 의해서 다툼이 생기나 좋은 충고를 받은 자에게는 지혜가 있느니라. |

Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase. |
헛되이 얻은 재물은 줄어들려니와 수고하여 모으는 자는 재물을 늘리리라. |

Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. |
소망이 늦추어지면 마음을 병들게 하거니와 소원이 이르면 그것은 생명나무니라. |

Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded. |
누구든지 말씀을 멸시하는 자는 멸망하려니와 명령을 두려워하는 자는 보상을 받으리라. |

The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. |
지혜로운 자의 법은 사망의 올무들에서 벗어나게 하는 생명 샘이니라. |

선한 명철은 호의를 베푸나 범법자들의 길은 험하니라. |

Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly. |
분별 있는 자마다 지식을 가지고 행하거니와 어리석은 자는 자기의 어리석은 짓을 드러내느니라. |

A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health. |
사악한 사자(使者)는 해악에 빠져도 신실한 대사는 건강하게 하느니라. |

Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured. |
훈계를 거절하는 자에게는 가난과 수치가 있으려니와 책망을 중히 여기는 자는 존경을 받으리라. |

The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil. |
혼에게는 성취된 소원이 달거니와 어리석은 자들에게는 악에서 떠나는 것이 가증한 것이니라. |

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. |
지혜로운 자들과 함께 걷는 자는 지혜로우려니와 어리석은 자들의 벗이 되는 자는 멸망을 당하리라. |

Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed. |
재앙은 죄인들의 뒤를 따르거니와 의로운 자들은 좋은 것으로 보답을 받으리라. |

A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. |
선한 사람은 자기 자손의 자손에게 상속 재산을 남기거니와 죄인의 재물은 의인을 위해 쌓이느니라. |

Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment. |
가난한 자가 경작하는 곳에는 먹을 것이 많거니와 판단이 부족하여 멸망하는 일도 있느니라. |

He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. |
회초리를 아끼는 자는 자기 아들을 미워하거니와 그를 사랑하는 자는 어릴 때에 그를 징계하느니라. |

The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want. |
