It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter. |
일을 숨기는 것은 하나님의 영광이나 문제를 찾아내는 것은 왕들의 영예니라. |

The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable. |
하늘의 높음과 땅의 깊음과 왕들의 마음은 헤아릴 수 없느니라. |

Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer. |
은에서 찌꺼기를 제거하라. 그리하면 정련공을 위한 그릇이 나오리라. |

Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness. |
왕 앞에서 사악한 자를 제거하라. 그리하면 그의 왕좌가 의 안에서 굳게 서리라. |

Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men: |
왕 앞에서 스스로 나서지 말며 위대한 자들의 자리에 서지 말라. |

For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen. |
사람이 네게, 이리로 올라오라, 하는 것이 네 눈에 보이는 통치자의 앞에서 네가 낮아지는 것보다 나으니라. |

Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame. |
급히 나아가서 다투지 말라. 그것의 마지막에 곧 네 이웃이 너를 모욕할 때에 네가 어찌할 줄을 알지 못할까 염려하노라. |

Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another: |
네 사정에 대하여 네 이웃과 직접 변론하고 은밀한 일을 남에게 드러내지 말라. |

Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away. |
그것을 듣는 자가 너를 모욕하므로 너에 대한 악평이 떠나지 아니할까 염려하노라. |

적절히 말한 말은 은 그림들에 있는 금 사과들 같으니라. |

순종하는 귀에 대고 지혜롭게 책망하는 자는 금귀고리 같으며 정금 장식 같으니라. |

신실한 사자(使者)는 그를 보낸 자들에게 마치 수확 때에 내린 차가운 눈 같으니 그는 자기 주인들의 혼을 시원하게 하느니라. |

누구든지 스스로 거짓 선물을 자랑하는 자는 비 없는 구름들과 바람 같으니라. |

By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone. |
오래 참음을 통해 통치자도 설득되나니 부드러운 혀는 뼈를 꺾느니라. |

Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it. |
네가 꿀을 발견하였느냐? 네게 족한 만큼만 먹으라. 그것으로 배가 차서 네가 토할까 염려하노라. |

Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour's house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee. |
네 이웃의 집에서 네 발을 뒤로 물리라. 그가 네게 싫증이 나서 너를 미워할까 염려하노라. |

A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow. |
자기 이웃을 대적하여 거짓 증언하는 자는 큰 망치요 칼이요 뾰족한 화살이니라. |

Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint. |
고난의 때에 신실하지 아니한 자를 신뢰하는 것은 부러진 이와 관절에서 빠진 발 같으니라. |

As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart. |
마음이 무거운 자에게 노래를 불러 주는 자는 추운 날씨에 옷을 빼앗는 자 같고 천연소다에 붓는 식초 같으니라. |
