의로운 자는 가난한 자의 사정을 깊이 생각하나 사악한 자는 관심을 기울여 그것을 알려 하지 아니하느니라. |

Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath. |
조롱하는 자들은 도시를 올무에 걸리게 하거니와 지혜로운 자들은 진노를 돌이키느니라. |

If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest. |
지혜로운 자가 어리석은 자와 다투면 그가 노하든지 웃든지 안식이 없느니라. |

A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. |
어리석은 자는 자기 생각을 모두 말하되 지혜로운 자는 그것을 나중에까지 지키느니라. |

If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked. |
치리자가 거짓말에 귀를 기울이면 그의 모든 종들이 사악하게 되느니라. |

The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes. |
가난한 자와 속이는 자가 함께 만나거니와 주께서 그 두 사람의 눈을 밝게 하시느니라. |

왕이 가난한 자를 위해 신실하게 재판하면 그의 왕좌가 영원히 굳게 서리라. |

회초리와 꾸짖음은 지혜를 주거니와 제멋대로 버려둔 자식은 자기 어머니에게 수치를 가져오느니라. |
