Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD. |
또 하루는 하나님의 아들들이 자기를 주 앞에 보이려고 왔는데 사탄도 그들 가운데 와서 주 앞에 자기를 보이니라. |

And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. |
주께서 사탄에게 이르시되, 네가 어디에서 오느냐? 하시니 사탄이 주께 대답하여 이르되, 땅에서 여기저기 다니고 또 그 안에서 위아래로 거닐다가 오나이다, 하매 |

And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. |
주께서 사탄에게 이르시되, 네가 내 종 욥을 깊이 살펴보았느냐? 그와 같이 완전하고 곧바르며 하나님을 두려워하고 악을 멀리하는 자가 땅에 없느니라. 네가 나를 움직여 그를 치게 하고 까닭 없이 그를 멸하게 하려 하였으되 그가 여전히 자기의 순전함을 굳게 지키고 있도다, 하시매 |

And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. |
사탄이 주께 응답하여 이르되, 가죽으로 가죽을 바꾸오니 참으로 사람이 자기의 생명을 얻기 위해 자기의 모든 소유를 주리이다. |

But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. |
그러나 이제 주의 손을 내미사 그의 뼈와 살에 대소서. 그리하시면 그가 주의 얼굴 앞에서 주를 저주하리이다, 하매 |

And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life. |
주께서 사탄에게 이르시되, 보라, 그가 네 손에 있으나 그의 생명은 살려 둘지니라, 하시니라. |

¶ So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown. |
¶ 이에 사탄이 주 앞에서 물러가 욥을 쳐서 그의 발바닥에서부터 정수리까지 심한 종기가 나게 하매 |

And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes. |
그가 질그릇 조각을 가져다가 그것으로 자기 몸을 긁으며 재 가운데 앉아 있더라. |

¶ Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. |
¶ 이에 그의 아내가 그에게 이르되, 당신이 아직도 당신의 순전함을 지키느냐? 하나님을 저주하고 죽으라, 하되 |

But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips. |
그가 그녀에게 이르기를, 당신이 어리석은 여자들 중의 하나가 말하듯 말하니 무슨 까닭이냐? 우리가 하나님의 손에서 좋은 것을 받으며 또 나쁜 것을 받지 아니하겠느냐? 하고 이 모든 일에서 욥이 자기 입술로 죄를 짓지 아니하니라. |

¶ Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him. |
¶ 이제 욥의 세 친구가 이 모든 재앙이 그에게 닥쳤다는 것을 듣고 그들이 저마다 자기 처소에서 왔는데 그들은 데만 사람 엘리바스와 수아 사람 빌닷과 나아마 사람 소발이더라. 그들이 와서 그와 함께 애곡하고 그를 위로하려고 서로 약속하였더라. |

And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven. |
그들이 눈을 들어 멀리서 보되 그를 알아보지 못하고 소리를 높여 울며 그들이 저마다 자기 겉옷을 찢고 하늘을 향해 자기 머리 위에 티끌을 뿌리고 |

So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great. |
이처럼 밤낮으로 이레 동안을 그와 함께 땅에 앉았으나 그의 고통이 극심한 것을 보므로 아무도 그에게 한마디 말도 하지 아니하더라. |
